CARING FOR CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA

Welcome to Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.  Our web site provides information about:

  • Information about multiple sclerosis
  • Local programs and services
  • Current research and treatments
  • Current events and activities
  • Fundraising and volunteer opportunities throughout our service area

The National MS Society and Our Mission
The mission of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society is to end the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis.
We achieve our mission through delivery of programs and services to people with MS and their families and caregivers, and through support of research into the cause and cure of MS. Our activities are made possible through private donations, grants, sponsorships and fundraising campaigns such as Walk MS and Bike MS.
We fund more MS research, offers more services for people with MS, and provides more professional education programs than any other MS organization in the world. Since its founding in 1946, over $350 million has been invested in research to find the cause, treatments, and cure for MS. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is the only national voluntary MS organization that meets the standards of all major agencies that rate the fiscal responsibility of non-profit groups.

About the Central Pennsylvania Chapter
The Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society serves more than 5,300 people in 30 counties of Central Pennsylvania.
Click here to view our service regions and office locations The Chapter supports research into the cure, prevention and treatment of MS and provides programs and services to help improve the quality of life for those with MS.

The Central Pennsylvania Chapter provides programs, services and activities in areas such as knowledge, health and independence to empower those affected by multiple sclerosis. Chapter programs are made possible by our fundraising success.  People with MS and family members who are registered with our office receive our quarterly newsletter MS Connections, mailings about programs, events and volunteer opportunities. Most of our programs and services are free, however some may require nominal fees.

The major fundraising campaigns are: Walk MS, Bike MS, Leadership Classes and Polo. Thousands of volunteers work to help the Central Pennsylvania Chapter accomplish our goals each year. From working a water-stop at an event to sending out information packets to someone who is newly diagnosed, the volunteers are making a difference.

Volunteers are key to the chapter's success and we truly value their support.

If you would like to be added to the Central Pennsylvania Chapter's mailing list, please submit your interest via our online form.

Spread the Word!
Thanks to significant advances in research, the FDA has approved several treatments that may alter the underlying disease course of multiple sclerosis, and early diagnosis and treatment is critically important.  People with MS should consult their physician about using one of these FDA approved medications and other effective treatments for the symptoms of MS.  If you or someone you know has multiple sclerosis, contact the National MS Society for more information at 1-800-FIGHT MS.

PSA for Veterans living with MS
A new public service announcement (PSA) about veterans living with multiple sclerosis (MS) could be running on radio and television stations in the Central Pennsylvania area. The Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) has launched the PSA to raise awareness about assistance for veterans living with MS as well as available research and educational information about the disease. While the Society was not involved in the development of the PSA, we support the Paralyzed Veterans of America in this outreach. If you would like to view this PSA, you can do so on YouTube and on the MS activist blog.
